Our World Cup Story

We travelled to Belgium with pride, passion and purpose — and came home 6th in the world.

Ireland Women's Masters O55s finished sixth at the 2026 World Cup after an outstanding campaign. The team played six matches against the world's best, winning four and remaining unbeaten in normal time. They scored nine goals — the fifth-highest total at the tournament — and conceded only two field goals.

After topping their pool with victories over Canada, New Zealand and Spain, Ireland drew 0–0 with Argentina in the quarter-final before losing in sudden death in 37°C heat. They then defeated South Africa and drew 1–1 with New Zealand, narrowly losing the fifth-place play-off in one-on-ones.

With an average age of 57 and Irish Masters experience ranging from one to 70 caps, the team represented Ireland with pride, passion and resilience. Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters, families, friends and Masters committees who made this unforgettable journey possible.

Strong women. Fierce hearts. One team. One dream. Onward to the next World Cup!

Sponsorship Opportunities

Partner With Ireland's o55'S Masters Hockey Team

Following an outstanding sixth-place finish at the 2026 World Cup, the Ireland Women’s Masters O55 hockey team is looking ahead to its next international campaign with the Four Nations and European Championships. As a largely self-funded team, sponsorship is vital in helping our players represent Ireland on the world stage. By partnering with us, your organisation will support women in sport, active ageing and lifelong participation while gaining visibility through our website, social media, team communications, events and international competitions. We would be delighted to develop a sponsorship package that reflects your organisation’s goals and creates a meaningful, mutually beneficial partnership. To discuss future sponsorship opportunities, please contact us.
